There's no going back when you cannibalize bits

When I was doing commission work, I had no trouble doing this. If it's your model, I say we hack away until we get what we need. Cost is no matter. If it's my model... it's a different story. Let's just stop and think about this. There's no need to make a rash decision.

I'm starting an "art scale" Terminator project

I've decided I'm going to try my hand at Master of the Forge's process for building an "art scale" Terminator. It's a fairly involved conversion, but it gets me closest to the kind of Terminator I want.

Finally cleaned up my game room

Spent a few hours cleaning up my game room a few days ago. I'd been putting it off for the past two weeks knowing I had to clean up the snow board we played Kill Team on recently. I get sidetracked easily planning my next big project every time I pick something up, but I stayed with it and managed to get it pretty much done.

I swapped out the torso on my Primaris Terminator

After posting my disappointment with how he turned out, the comments I got were exactly what I needed. I'm not talking about words of comfort and assurance. I'm talking about figuring out what was wrong with the model.

Step by step painting or should you learn why?

I was commenting on a post about how it seems like painters today just want the steps to something and aren't really concerned with the "why" behind the steps. I noticed this last time I sat down to teach a small painting class at my local game store.

This is the model I want to play with

"I don't care if he's not the best unit to use. I love the lore of this model." That's what the owner of this model said when he posted it on Reddit last month.
This is the kind of stuff I want to share, but never would before when I was more worried about my post content rather than sharing the cool stuff I find that resonates with me.

Storm Warden 3D banner progress

A few weeks ago, I had a reader email and ask for permission to build a 3D version of the Storm Warden banner I made a decade ago for the Storm Wardens charity project.

This way, it could be 3D printed and everyone would have access to the image if they wanted to get one. I thought it might be cool to see how it turned out, so I agreed.

My Primaris Terminator, he almost looks right

So I posted this guy the other day and the whole project over the past few weeks. All the check boxes for sharing a project online from start to finish. And it failed. I still can't place my finger on exactly what's wrong with him, but I know he could be better.

Revamping this blog after 30 short days

Thirty days... that's all it took for me to realize I'd gone back to doing the same thing I swore I wasn't going to do. I love blogging, but somehow I end up letting it interfere with my hobby. I'm giving myself 30 days to change that.
